Heirloom — a free family tree maker
Heirloom needs JavaScript, because the whole thing runs on your own
device. There is no server to draw the chart for you — and that is the point:
nothing you type about your family is ever uploaded anywhere.
With it switched on you can build a family tree by hand or import a
GEDCOM from Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage or Gramps; look at it as a
register chart, a grown tree, a fan chart, a timeline, a numbered register or the
families you married into; and print it — a PDF at exactly the paper size you
chose, with the trim marks and bleed a press asks for, from A4 up to A0, tiled into
a mural, or a flex banner measured in feet.
It also writes a living page you can send on WhatsApp, a short
film of the family growing, and square story cards for
one person at a time. Hindi and Marathi names are set properly in Devanagari, and you can
speak the names instead of typing them.
